India-U.S. Space & Defense Partnership: Seven Indian Startups Selected for Strategic Collaboration

The India-U.S. partnership in space and defense technology took a significant leap forward in January 2025, with seven Indian startups being selected for a pioneering collaboration program. This initiative aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in satellite observation, advanced defense technologies, and aerospace innovation, fostering strategic ties between Indian companies and key U.S. agencies.

Among the selected startups are KaleidEO, EtherealX, and Shyam VNL, each bringing cutting-edge expertise in satellite imaging, aerospace propulsion, and secure defense communications. These companies will have the opportunity to work closely with U.S. institutions, including the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) and the Department of Defense (DoD).

The program offers participants access to mentorship, funding opportunities, and potential collaborations with major U.S. defense contractors, including Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, and RTX (formerly Raytheon Technologies). This engagement is expected to accelerate the development of next-generation defense solutions, enabling Indian startups to integrate their innovations into global defense ecosystems.

This initiative marks a milestone in India-U.S. defense cooperation, reinforcing India’s growing role in the global defense and space sectors while unlocking new opportunities for technological advancement and cross-border partnerships.
